A first official step: trademark protection for "Sameina"

There is a concrete milestone to report: the name Sameina is now registered as a word mark with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA).

That might sound like a formality, but for me it wasn't. The road to this name was long — a search spanning several weeks, with many names I liked that were already taken. In the end I landed on an Icelandic word: Sameina means "to unite, to merge into one" — the same word used in the Icelandic name for the United Nations.

That meaning isn't a coincidence — it captures fairly precisely what this project is about: bringing different, fragmented things together without them losing what makes them distinct.
